Week One

Overview of the week:
1. I walked so much my feet actually bled.
2. I've traipsed through Florence in the snow multiple times.
3. I can order a cappuccino in Italian very well.

Getting to walk around and learn the city on our own has been so fun. I'm not a super adventurous person, so it's kind of exhilarating to get off the tram and just start walking. We've already gone through one bus pass that has 10 swipes, so that's going to be annoyingly expensive throughout the semester. I crave gelato or nutella crepes almost every day. I have definitely eaten my weight in pasta, but there's a lot of fruit in the villa so that helps me justify all the carbs. I'm addicted to coffee for the first time in my life. I usually have multiple coffees/cappuccinos a day. We wake up and have class til lunch, which is more like mid afternoon feast. It was so hard to get used to eating lunch at 130, but we snack throughout the morning on fruit and bread. We've had a couple of onsite classes in Florence at the main church called the Duomo. The architecture is incredible. It's so crazy to see the buildings and learn how everything was built knowing how much more technologically advanced we are now. They did incredible things for the time with the resources they had. And the artwork is wonderful. Michaelangelo is my favorite so far. It's only been a week but it seems like we've been here longer. I'll try to add pictures soon!
